Wood Shop Teacher/ President of Hanford Secondary Educators Association

Allen has been a Wood Shop Teacher for 33 years and has served in many different roles. Over the past 20 years he has been involved in his local and regional union and the past 7 years at the state level. Serving as a Site Rep. , Vice President, Negotiations Team, President, State Council, CTA Liaison. I was also one of the organizers of the FIGHT for SCHOOLS RALLY in Hanford in May of 2025.

2019 - Present

President / Hanford Secondary Educators Association

Their primary responsibility is to organize, listen and communicate with union members 

  • Implemented the Presidents Release Grant and made the local more involved in being able to organize quickly when needed. 

  •  President during COVID and was thrown to the front lines in being a leader for the union at not just local but in the Tulare/Kings Service Center.

  • Created a stronger leadership within the local by encouraging many to be more involved in different roles. In process of growing Equity team which has never been strong. 

  • Pushed for a open dialogue with the District office and Site Representative meeting with Principals monthly.

2020 - Present

State Council / Alternative, Career & Technical Committee

  • Make suggestions to California Teachers Association Policy to have updated language or to correct language that is either outdated or needs relevancy to current education needs.

  • Serves as sub-chair of the Career Technical Committee and works with committee in a team effort to make sure that career technical education is always relevant in policy.

2022 - Present

Service Center Vice Chair / Tulare/Kings Service Center

  • involved in the planning and implementing of meetings and events. 

  • Spoke at many board meetings to create action by the loacl school bosrd in the following local communities. Orosi, Selma, Farmersville, and Earlimart.

  • Have attempted several times to talk to local congressman about educational issues. Have spoken to his local aides.

  • Have been a part interview panel for CTA endorsement of local congressional district, as well as, state races.

Liaison CalOSHA / California Teachers Association

  • attended CalOSHA Standards Board meeting as liaison. Worked at making connections to other industries and unions to build possible bridges amongst us. Also had to file reports and report to State Council Safety committee.

Coached Multiple Sports as a Head Coach or Assistant

  • Was one of the driving members in bringing Girls Wrestling to be recognized by CIF.

  • Tournament Director of the unofficial girls state wrestling tournament from 2004-2010. Made it possible to give the CIF real numbers on the growth of the sport which lead to its official recognition. Also, the coach that brought girls wrestling to the Central Section. To this day is still involved in the sport and just finished hosting and directing the divisional championships.

  • Head Football Coach at Sierra Pacific High School 2009-2014. Started a team when the school first opened which required a lot of leadership and community involvement.
